Notes from Steering Committee Meeting with Village Farm Staff – 6.22.26

1. We met the new manager, Teresa Driver, and she is a full-time RVer living here in the park. She has managed other RV resorts and has good experience for this role.

2. We asked for a status update about all of the things unfinished and learned that they have gotten bids to fix all of the roads that are rutted and potholed due to rain and runoff. It will hopefully be a four-week process starting in July, and they will communicate with us via email about which section is having what done, and when. They will then have the supplies to keep up with things as new ruts or holes show up. As for the weeds around the houses, now that the landscapers won’t touch the skirting, they are working on a plan to install a metal barrier between the skirting and the grass, which will allow them to go right up to the house again without damaging the skirting. They are going to try it on a new, empty house first, and if it works and looks okay, it will be up to them to do this on all houses that have no rock barriers in place.

3. We mentioned the satisfaction survey, and we learned that not everyone is getting their emails. If you aren’t, please reach out to Teresa at tdriver@robertsrc.com to be added to the email list. 4. For the community gardens, they will be replacing and beautifying the decomposed granite, and for marketing purposes, all should go through Teresa now. We also discussed moving the shed so the farm tools can be put in it, and we can use our kiln, but this requires more conversations, as things have stalled.

5. In terms of emergency contact information, Teresa is on site here, and this is the number we call in case of an after-hours emergency: 512-745-2698 (i.e. a huge geyser of water shooting up for hours).

6. Speaking of other emergencies, they want to make sure that we call the police when things happen. Our security does drive throughs on our property, but also oversees a large swath of Austin, so it isn’t always here and can’t come right away. Cars being broken into should go to Teresa so she can write up an incident report, and to the police as well. Using the police more will give them the information they might need to increase patrols in our area, so she really wants to encourage us to call them. Especially if strangers are up on your porch in the middle of the night and so on. They are going to look into installing more bird-friendly solar lights in dark areas around the property.

7. Contact Teresa regarding abandoned cars. She places a phone call to the towing company, and they take it from there. She already got a van towed last week.

8. Regarding sheds for the farm side, we aren’t allowed to have them next to our houses. When they got a building permit to develop this property, the only buildings they were approved for were the houses. The solution is to build a storage shed location where you can purchase one if you want, so there’d be a large grouping of sheds in a central location. That central location is tbd and the timeline and confirmation on this actually happening is also not definitive.

9. We discussed getting Chem Free to service the farmhouse due to cockroaches. There was a discussion about the rules for residential bug services, and we will put in writing that any service must be organic to avoid disrupting our farm's organic certification.

10. We discussed the factory noise. Sheilla is aware of how unhappy we are, has been receiving our emails, and shares every one of them with Scott. She is getting ready to write us another email about the situation and is continuing to try to solve the problem. She’s aware that it is still awful for many hours of the day. They are going to ask them to shut the doors when they work and are pushing them to work within the hours they’re allowed. This is ongoing, and no one is happy, and they know this.
